How Healthy are you?

Pause a moment to take stock of your health. Honestly ask yourself. How am I feeling? Are you just feeling "fine"? Or "fantastic"? Or "can be better"? If you have children, consider their state of health too.

Many of us are familiar with the signs of illness. But we take good health for granted until we fall ill. So let us appreciate our good health and be thankful. What are the signs of optimal health?

Health Checklist

  • Feel good
  • Feel strong
  • Sleep well
  • Good appetite
  • Lean body
  • Feel happy
  • Clear-headed
  • Think smartly
  • Low infection rate
  • Regular bowel movement
  • Look good

If you have most of these characteristics, you have done well. Please continue to keep healthy. Otherwise, you may lose your vitality and constantly feel tired, sleepy, weak and mentally fatigued. In time, you will develop serious health problems.

Very often, these problems come on insidiously as we learn to tolerate the early symptoms, accepting them as part of an inherent weakness or an ageing process. The majority of people are oblivious to the impending danger.

Warning signs to take note

  • Overweight or obese;
  • Chronic inflammatory problems such as allergy, eczema, asthma, irritable bowel disease, headache, insomnia and depression;
  • Frequent sickness;
  • Rapid signs of ageing.

You could have one, or a combination, of these maladies. In time, they may transform into life-threatening diseases. Are you suffering from the following lifestyle diseases?

  • Type 2 diabetes;
  • Heart disease;
  • Pneumonia;
  • Alzheimer's disease;
  • Cancer

While these diseases are life-threatening, they are treatable and, to a certain extent, reversible.
